Rental Space to Teach, Learn & Share Ideas

Asylum CoLab is a creative, adaptable venue for classes, workshops, and educational programming of all kinds. From one-off seminars to recurring courses, our classrooms are designed for people who want to teach, learn, and gather in a space that supports focus, creativity, and collaboration.

Classes hosted here span a wide range of subjects. Arts, business, wellness, performance, writing, leadership, and everything in between. If you have something to teach, this is a space where it can take shape.

Teach Your Class Your Way

Asylum CoLab is first and foremost a room rental venue. That means flexibility.

You’re welcome to:

  • Rent a classroom to teach your own class or workshop

  • Host a recurring series or short-term program

  • Bring in guest instructors or outside educators

  • Design your curriculum, schedule, and format independently

We provide the space, the setup, and the support. What you teach and how you teach it is entirely up to you.

When You’re Looking for the Best Classes in Boston

While many instructors rent space at Asylum CoLab independently, some students arrive here looking for established training programs.

One of the most well-known is Improv Asylum, Boston’s best comedy theater offering improv classes for beginners through advanced performers. Their training center hosts a full curriculum focused on improvisation, performance, and creative collaboration.

Students of all ages looking to take improv, sketch writing, and a ton of other options should check out Improv Asylum’s Training Center

Classrooms Designed for Learning & Participation

Our classrooms are built for engagement, not lectures-from-the-back-of-the-room.

Each space supports:

  • Interactive teaching styles

  • Group discussion and breakout work

  • Movement-based or creative classes

  • Presentation-based learning

Whether you’re running a hands-on workshop or a discussion-driven course, the rooms adapt easily to your needs.

A Space That Grows With Your Class

Many instructors start with a single workshop and expand into multi-week courses or ongoing programs. Our flexible scheduling and room options make it easy to grow without outgrowing your space.

Who Teaches Here?

Asylum CoLab regularly hosts:

  • Independent instructors and facilitators

  • Artists and performers

  • Educators and coaches

  • Community organizers

  • Creative professionals teaching niche or emerging topics

You’ll find a wide range of voices and teaching styles here, from first-time instructors testing a new idea to experienced educators running established programs. Some classes are one-time events, others grow into multi-week series or ongoing offerings. Whether you’re teaching something highly specialized or broadly accessible, Asylum CoLab is designed to support learning in all its forms. Everyone is welcome!
